Graduating in 2023 with her BFA in digital media and drawing from the University of Alabama, Ryan Glantz is an illustrator from Rochester, NY. Through airy and light compositions, Ryan’s digital illustrations re-invoke juvenescence, innocence, and topics of femininity and identity. Adorned in pastel palettes and foliage, she uses digital brushes that mimic traditional painting and pencil illustrations. With a fascination with cute as an aesthetic and kawaii culture, her work takes stylistic influence from contemporary mangaka and children’s illustrators and pairs that with the conceptual and compositional influence of Impressionist painters. This mix of hyper-stylized characters contrasted against soft painterly environments creates a whimsical and fantastical bridge between contemporary and traditional illustration.
